Peer Review Process

To maintain the quality and credibility of the published research, the Global Journal of English Language and Literary Research (GJELR) has a robust, ethical and transparent peer review process. Our review procedure will be structured in a manner that will cover all the submitted manuscripts in a fair, constructive, and confidential manner.

1. Initial Editorial Screening

After submitting a manuscript:

  • The Editorial Office verifies completeness, suitability to the scope of the journal, and compliance with the guidelines for submissions.
  • Manuscripts which fail to meet the minimal requirements can be sent back to the authors to be revised or desk-rejected.

Only those who qualify in this first stage are then put through peer review.

2. Double-Blind Peer Review

GJELR is a model of peer review that is double-blind and where:

  • Reviewers are not made aware of the authors.
  • Authors are also not disclosed who conduct reviews.

This will make the appraisals unbiased and reduce bias.

3. Reviewer Selection

  • Manuscripts will be sent to qualified reviewers who will be of expertise in that field.
  • The choice of the reviewers is based on the academic experience, research background, and knowledge of the subject.
  • Mostly, the manuscripts are evaluated by at least two reviewers.

4. Review Evaluation

Reviewers base their evaluation on:

  • Originality and significance of the research.
  • Clearness of the Purpose and the Process.
  • Quality analysis and interpretation.
  • Relevance and accuracy of literature review.
  • Contribution to the field of English language and literary studies
  • Overall presentation and academic standard.

The reviews are accompanied by comprehensive remarks and suggestions in order to support the editors and the authors.

5. Editorial Decision

The editorial team reaches to one of the following decisions based on the assessment and recommendations of reviewers:

Accepted

The article satisfies all the requirements and will not be heavily edited.

Minor Revision

There are slight changes which should be made to the manuscript. The authors are requested to reform and republish.

Major Revision

The paper requires significant improvements. Authors are expected to make changes and rewrite.

Rejected

The article falls short in the quality of the journal as well as their scope.

Reviewers provide explicit feedback to the authors to make any required revisions.

6. Revision and Resubmission

  • Authors are supposed to respond to the comments of reviewers and provide the revised manuscripts within the stipulated time.
  • The corrected versions of the manuscripts are re-assessed to make sure that the amendments have been made accordingly.
  • The editorial team may consult reviewers again if needed.

7. Final Acceptance and Publication.

After making satisfactory and approved revisions, the manuscript is passed on to publication stage. The articles that are accepted are professionally edited, formatted and set to be released online.

8. Confidentiality and Ethics

During the review process:

  • Any manuscripts that are submitted are considered confidential documents.
  • Reviewers and editors should not reveal, comment, and utilize the content in the manuscript to their personal benefit.
  • Before being involved in the review process, any conflict of interest should be declared.

Our Commitment

GJELR strives to provide fair, transparent, and timely peer review process and therefore academic excellence and integrity. Our goals are to deliver positive feedback, which will assist the authors to work on their work and enhance the development of the English language and literature studies.
